Whatever I need to tell myself to help me sleep at night, right?
Okay, I absolutely LOVE my Kindle. If anyone has been following me long, or knows me in person, you know this is true. I highly highly highly recommend the Kindle to anyone that is looking into purchasing an electronic reader.
Interesting, eh?
Now, I'm not suggesting you get a Nook...I'm just pointing it out. I thought it was interesting. I still love my Kindle and don't have any plans on getting a Nook (or getting rid of my Kindle). I have been following along with the comments over at A Peaceful Day about what people think about the Kindle or an iPad and I know that the Nook isn't an iPad (far from it!) but there are a lot of good comments!
So, any of you out there get any of these nifty gadgets? Which do you prefer- which do you want? Any on your Christmas wish list? ;)

I love my Kindle. My hubby loves my Kindle. My daughter wants my Kindle, lol. But I specifically did not want a color screen...I know from trying to read ebooks off the desktop it's simply too hard on my eyes for sustained reading. I also wanted something dedicated to reading---while I can surf on the Kindle, it's not really convenient enough for me to goof off that way. I might like an iPad some day. but it would be for different applications.
ReplyDeleteVery good points! Although I've no idea how the color would be on the Nook, I'm happy with my Kindle. I was so amazed at how long I can read on it without getting strained. I have had the Kindle for PC for awhile now but after having the real thing, I can't use it anymore- I'm super spoiled ;)
ReplyDeleteAs for the iPad...I think it's almost in a whole different category!
I would greatly LOVE an ipad. But, I don't think I can swing that this year. :( So, I've done lots of research, and I'm going for the Kindle at Christmas. :-) I already have Kindle for ipod, and I love it.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I'm glad that I can't get a Nook over in Australia. I think another contender would make my decision almost impossible. I must say, your list of AO books on Kindle is swaying me towards getting one of those. Which do you recommend - the smaller or larger model?
ReplyDeleteI'm sticking with Kindle envy (because I don't have one -- YET). The Nook looks cute, but... Everything I've seen about the Kindle and all the reports I've heard (everyone LOVES it) has convinced me that it's the e-reader for me.
ReplyDelete@ Jeanne, honestly after reading at Jimmie's about her DX version (http://jimmiescollage.com/2010/08/enjoying-our-new-kindles-china), I'd love that but... the smaller works just fine for me. It feels like the size of a book. Whereas the larger, I would think it would almost feel bulky...? Mine was a birthday present and I think that if I had really wanted to DX dh would have gotten it for me but I was trying to modest ;)
ReplyDeleteI have wanted a Kindle for-e-ver! Now that I have my iPod touch, I am rethinking it. I can see that an iPad would be so cool. I am not at all swayed toward the Nook, but it seems I am a bit fickle at this point- when I get the $$ to spend on one of them, I guess I'll know for sure. :)
ReplyDeleteBeing modest is not always a good thing around birthday time...
ReplyDeleteYou fickle girl, you! :) Thanks for sharing these thoughts about all of the readers, Blossom. I'm quite shallow. I like the Nook because they offer cool pink cases. Of course, this lover of real books hasn't given in to the e-reader temptation, but you never know.
ReplyDeleteI saw the nook color and I think it would serve a certain purpose... books that have color illustrations for instance. But I'm still not switching! even though I had someone offer to buy me another e-reader, I chose another kindle... I like it that much ;)
ReplyDeleteof course I wouldn't cry if someone offered to buy me an i-pad either... geesh, those things are expensive!
:)
oh and trisha, you can get whatever color case you want for the Kindle... even pink with FLOWERS! ;) heheh.
